Ok so after 8 months and n number of banquet hall visits for official do's i finally land up at Seasonal Tastes.
Seasonal Tastes is Westin's flagship all day dining coffee shop. Its almost wall to wall in length on one side of the hotels lobby area.
It being a day where lunch was at Zafraan Exotica , i was conscious of not stuffing myself too much for dinner and stuck just to about all the desserts and a select few other dishes. I frankly missed out on quite a few of them but then i have day after to compensate for it.
Its got huge ceilings with each table spaced out pretty well. Although the chairs seem a little uncomfortable to sit, they are ok. ST has also got a children's play area where parents can think about having a spoon or 2 when their kids are at the play pen.
I started my dessert storm with the taste of the sorbets and gelatos. From what i can remember it had organg ginger sorbet, pineapple coconut sorbet, lemon sorbet , and the rest of the gelatos ( mango, fig, strawberry, black current. coffee, dark chocolate , rose petal ).
I did not like the first 2 sorbets but absolutely loved the neon color of the lemon sorbet and the contrasting smooth texture of the mango gelato which was my first dish.
After having downed that, i moved to the rest of the desserts. For some reason, ST had all the names of the desserts under the stands and we actually had to search for them and in the end never remembered many of them.
From the dessert platter, i had he vanilla creme brulee, the chocolate eclair, 2 cakes , 1 fruit tart and 1 slice of the strawberry gateaux .
The crème brulee was ok, but i liked the caramelized sugar or the effort to have it right. The fruit tart was okayish. The gateaux looked bland in comparison. The fig cake was super yum and the inverted pear cake was equally good. The chocolate eclair, was confusing. I expected chocolate, but got a caramel/coffee filling inside.
After this i went on a clicking spree to check what else was on offer and i was probably missing out which is when i saw that charizo was part of the cold cuts, there was a cheese platter consisting of Brie, Edam and Cheddar, then there was a sushi bar, a dimsum bar, a roast leg of lamb and customized stir fry counter - aprt from the regular indian fare.
A lot of pots and pans are part of the decor at ST which makes it look very crowded for some reason.
After the food tour, i settled down with some starters which had the gulabi paneer tikka, dragon chicken, lasooni fish and some roast leg of lanb.
The dragon chicken and lasooni fish were amazing, the roast leg of lamb was passable so was the gulabi paneer.
I moved to the stir fry section where i had a selection of onion, chicken, peppers. mushroom, spring onion - it was probably the awesomest dish in the night. Perfect balance of sweet , sour and tang from the oyster and Worcester sauce combo that the chef put in it.
That was my second last dish before i dug in to the strawberry and black currant gelato again with a topping of strawberry sauce and white chocolate chips to call it a day of food porn !
Going by the variety of the spread, it probably equals up to Amara , whose buffet spread had awed me earlier. This awes me as much if not more.
Service was crisp and meal was sponsored so all the more enjoyable.
