Models Own – Lipstick and Nail Polish Review

A simple and honest review on a few of Models Own products!
I recently pruchased a few products from Models Own after finding out they were “Furry Friendly,” meaning they don’t test on animals. Ever.
I’ve read lots of good reviews on the products but just never bothered trying them out because I was more focused on other brands, given the amount of reviews it might seem a little silly to post my own thoughts, but I wanted to give an honest review from someone that doesn’t have great amounts of cash to spend on make-up.
Huge mistake on my part. Most of their items are at a very decent price for the quality, (fun fact: all nail polishes are £5.00, with the exception of the “Crackle” effect ones,) everything comes in a mad array of colours and to top it all off, it’s really great stuff!
I decided to actually go into a store and buy them in person, so that I could look at the colours myself, I also didn’t want to order online  as I didn’t want to pay for P&P as I’m trying to save my money at the minute. (Another fun fact: Models Own don’t charge P&P on orders over £20 in the UK. Bonus!)
I picked up two lipsticksCoral; a beautiful creamy orange lipstick, and Sheer Sparkle; a sparkly nude lipstick with a hint of pink.
Coral – A very good lipstick for the price of £5.00. It’s a very creamy forumla though, and it’s much easier to use your finger or a lip brush to apply so you don’t apply too much. I must admit, I can’t wear this on it’s own. The colour just doesn’t look quite right on me with having such pale skin and I look a little clown-like, and I have to apply a pinkish lip gloss over to balance the colour out.
Sheer Sparkle – Great lipstick to wear out with friends and family as it adds a very light colouring of pink with plenty of small sparkles. Propably one of the few lipsticks I’ll be using for the next months, but it’s one major flaw is that the sparkles in this lipstick actually hurt my lips if I press them together and I have to apply lip gloss over the lip stick to stop this from happening.
I also managed to get myself four of the nail polishes on offer, thanks in part to my mum treating me. (Thanks mum!) I picked out Utopia, a pastel beige, Snow White, a brilliant white polish, Fuzzy Peach, a beautiful light orange, and finally Coral Reef, a lovely pinkish orange colour.
Utopia – This is such a strange colour. It’s beige in colour, but is also very close to being white. It looks beautiful on and only requires one coat, which is just fantastic in my opinion. Definitely worth investing in just for the colour alone, as I’ve never seen a nail polish quite like this.
Snow White – Exactly what it sounds like. A bright, brilliant white nail polish which is on trend at the moment. Really suits me and it’s very eye catching. This requires two coats but dries really quick. Great for using as a base for pastel and neon polishes.
Fuzzy Peach – Really love this colour, it’s a very light orange colour and applies really well. Drying time is pretty decent considering the formula of this is quite creamy. Looks great with a crackle polish on your toes when you’re wearing sandles.
Coral Reef – I can’t say enough about this colour! It’s absolutely gorgeous and I’ll be wearing it for as long as the Summer lasts here in the UK! It’s a vibrant pinkyorange, that just reminds me of summer and ice-creams and sitting out in the sun. Dries really fast and lasts a good while without chipping. It also only needed one coat which is great!
Final Verdict: All in all, I highly recommend the nail polishes! I think they’re absolutely fantastic for the price, and there’s so many colours to choose from you’re really spoiled for choice. I think the lipsticks are very good value for the money and are great quality, but you really need to be aware of what suits you, and I would highly suggest picking up a lip gloss to tone the colours down!
